PART A
A brief introduction of Jurong Lake & Jurong Lake Park
Jurong Lake is a freshwater lake and reservoir. The lake serves as a reservoir contributing to the water supply of the country. It lies next to the Lakeside MRT Station, which derived its name from this geographical feature. The lake is surrounded by parkland, which serves as a recreational ground for nearby residents in Jurong East and Jurong West New Towns.
A landscaped sanctuary called Jurong Lake Park was built around the perimeter of the lake and work was completed in January 2006. Also, a 2.8 kilometre water promenade along Jurong Lake Park would allow residents to participate in watersports.
"The park is in fact quite unique. It has a 2.8-kilometre long waterfront promenade. Just take a walk or jog along the promenade and you can take in lovely scenes of the Chinese and Japanese Gardens. JTC has also taken great care to conserve many of the old trees and some of the mangroves to retain the original feel of the place. At the same time, it has added in new varieties of tropical plants and scrubs to further enhance the landscaping." said by Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam
This Is Our Reflection of our trip to Jurong Lake Park
HELLO EVERYONE!About the trip to Jurong Lake Park, we were supposed to research on bridge communities and we managed to find some specimens but there were not many organisms around the bridges so we did not manage to get many photos(so sad!), even if so, the organisms were mostly moving too fast, too small or they camouflage with their environments so, unfortunately, they were unable to be captured on camera. On the trip, we had plenty of fun and we also had a chance to experience the great outdoors and its wonders, like the flora and fauna around the park. We also had a hands on experience searching for organisms around different areas of the parks. For example, around bridges, the animals and plants usually grow and live in groups and the roots also grow towards the water in the drains under the bridges, some roots of the trees were even strong enough to break though the concrete drains to absorb water from the drain. Unfortunately, there were huge amounts of rubbish in the drains and all around the park. That totally destroyed the calm and beautiful environment of Jurong Lake Park. One of the most interesting discoveries was under a pile of damp leaves, we found a colony of worms that were only a bit thicker than a strand of hair and only less than 1 cm long, thus we had difficulties to capture them on camera too. We took a video but is not that clear. What a pity!
Overall, The trip was fun and at the same time inspiring!

Not every species has similar preferences. However, most apple snails prefer lentic waters above turbulent water (rivers). It is a species called Pomacea canaliculata.
